Kim Delaney, an American actress, is best known for her character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series for which she received the Emmy Award. She is best known for her role in All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney was born as the only child from her mom who was a homemaker as well as a an executive in the United Auto Workers. Delaney was a child with her four brothers. Though she had a dream of becoming journalist, it was not until the time of her high school days when Delaney started modeling. When she moved away from New York City and gaining experience with commercials at New York did she achieve her dream of becoming aspiring court reporters. In 1981, she starred as a naive teen in the film All My Children. Since then Delaney has appeared in numerous films television movies and dramas. As with her professional career however, her private life has not been easy or prosperous. The skilled actor had to battle alcoholism, and has had two failed marriages. She lost custody of her son in the year 2005.
